Its probably just another story of telecom run like telecom runs, but I hope this will be one I can get help with.

During the past year and a half, I have made around $2500 worth of calls to Indonesia through Verizon Wireless’ network. Recently, I ran into an issue where I have not been able to hear anyone on the other end and vice-versa. Having been mostly satisfied with Verizon Wireless’ responses to the minor issues in the past, I made an attempt to resolve the issue: open a trouble ticket, hope for a response, and most likely get it fixed.

Verizon Wireless opened the trouble ticket and closed it after making some test calls. They stated that, because the test calls were unsuccessful, that it *must* be a problem with the carrier in Indonesia. Hmm, interesting. Folks in Indonesia have had no problem calling me at all. I was instructed to contact the remote end and have a ticket opened there and that the remote end would call Verizon Wireless (or whomever handled it) and work it out. When I asked why they were unwilling to help their customer, me, to get the call through, they just repeated this line.

I went further. I went and made calls to Indonesia that connect to three different Indonesian carriers. Not a single one worked. But yet, no problems on Skype, AT&T, Google Voice, or anyplace else. So I called back Verizon Wireless. Again, I was told that, even though its THREE seperate carriers, it MUST be a problem with the remote carrier. I even asked how it would be possible, and they just said it is possible. Now, the trouble ticket is back open and I’m sure the response will be the same.

Some may say that I should just use another service, but of course, VzW will charge me termination fees, etc and well, I have my reasons for dialing direct. At 33 cents per minute, it seems like they’d want to help.

Is there anyone to contact at VzW who is willing to do something more than pass blame and trouble tickets?
